People think it’s hard meeting new people and even talking in bars, due to it being overly crowded and loud.
drink spiking

long wait-times
People feel like the bar scene is too over-whelming and they don’t enjoy the long wait times.
There are about 2 million bars in the world. 58% of people go to a bar every week, making this industry worth 25.09 billion dollars. However, people struggle
69.2% of survey respondents said they have had their drink spiked or know a friend who has.
We wanted to find out what a healthy bar experience looks like to people, as well as how they manage money. We had 83 responses and this survey helped guide us in a direction that focuses on keeping people safe.

KEY INTERVIEW QUOTES
“I hate waiting in ungodly lines for the most lack luster experience you’ll ever have.”
“I think what spoils the experience for me is I spend too much drinking.”
“My drinks have always been spiked whenever it was too crowded.”
FINAL DESIGN.
For our final design solution, after multiple rounds of ideation and user testing, we came up with Barvendor, an interactive cocktail vending machine.
Barvendor is an easy way that enables bar-goers to easily order customizable drinks without waiting for the bartender in a crowded bar. Additionally, Barvendor allows people to worry less by preventing drink spiking from the sealed lid on each cup.
Drinking Limit and Safe Transactions
It encourages people to set drinking limits at the beginning of the night and helps people stick to those limits. It remembers people's previous orders and allows for quick reordering of the same drink once you swipe your card and provides safer transactions.
Customized Drinks
Makes classic cocktails and allows people to customize their drink the way they want by giving users control over the type of alcohol, the quantity, the mixer and the add-ons.
IDEATION
OUR SOLUTION
Barvendor lets people easily customize drinks, set drinking limits to encourage healthier drinking habits, communicate their status through light up colored cups, while preventing spiking from our sealed lids.
THE PROBLEM.
People are concerned about their safety in bars when it comes to drink spiking, transactions, and overspending. People desperately desire a fun alternative way to order drinks in crowded bars, but lack the ability to do so.
